Sacred Sound of Healing

A 40-day Practice with Sanskrit Healing Mantras

January 5 - February 16

Healing is a multi-layered process of coming back into alignment with our natural state. Healing is done on many levels; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. We sometimes tend to focus on one area, but all are important to address.

Sanskrit mantras are like little magic spells that weave through all of these levels and out into the environment. They resonate with our natural state. They encourage wholeness and alignment.

You will be able to work with the mantras in this course as a focused practice to heal any layer of your own being, chant with intention for anyone in your life who needs it, or the greater world at large. If you are a healing practitioner of any kind, this practice will add a extra sparkle of goodness to your work.

Throughout this 40-day practice, we’ll be working primarily with 3 powerful Vedic mantras specifically used for healing, exploring how intentional and consistent chanting might create shifts in our body-mind-spirit complex, and the external environment we live in.

Sri Devi’s Sacred Sound workshop opened up a whole world to me, more deeply attuned to the vibrations of the universe. Her passion and ability to teach and bring the deeper meanings of the mantras to light as well as the skill to teach the technical aspects of pronunciation and Sanskrit reading and writing have considerably deepened my practice. I am so thankful to Sri for sharing her wisdom.

THEMES WE’LL EXPLORE:

-sound and thought vibration as healing technologies

-harnessing life force through the breath

-the balance of light and dark in healing

-the elements of nature as support systems and balancing agents

-healing the collective through the individual + healing the individual through the collective

-honoring the divine feminine as a way of healing

-the role of śraddha (devoted commitment + faith)

-the healing power of consciousness and intention

We’ll also explore the mythology of the energies contained with the mantras for greater context and understanding of the psychological qualities activated when we chant these mantras. Stories of Aditi (mother of the sun), Sūrya (an aspect of the Sun), the Ashvini Kumars (the celestial physicians), and Shiva (god of transformation and pure consciousness) will be shared.

Thank you Sri for this opportunity to be a part of this wonderful group of women and to move deeper into my devotional practice. It has made a deep impression on me and one that draws me deeper with each chant. Thank you and then a million more.

THE PRACTICE:

My intention with these containers is to make it as easy as possible to feel engaged with your practice. We’ll be learning simple mantras to use for daily japa practice (repetition of mantra). The goal will be to set up a steady practice that works for you, taking some time each day to chant, inviting an awareness of how mantras may bring shifts in our own lives and the world around us.

We meet twice a week for class/group practice and the game is for each of us to keep your our practice going in between meet ups.

There will also be ideas for supplementary practices to go along with the chanting if you wish to spend more time on any given day.

Thank you to Sri for creating a beautiful way for us to learn, practice and heal together! Sri is an amazing human that brings so much passion and love into teaching. I cannot wait to learn more.
I feel so connected & empowered.
