Staying Sane ~ A Week of Restorative Practices
If you are feeling a heightened level of anxiety, you're not alone. Collective tension in the environment can put your nervous system on high alert, causing all kinds of physiological responses.
When the sympathetic nervous system (flight/fight) is activated:
~ stress hormones are released
~ heart rate accelerates
~ breathing becomes shallow
~ cognitive thinking is compromised
~ immune function is compromised
~ sleep is compromised
~ digestion is compromised
In an effort to help keep our nervous systems regulated, I've decided to offer restorative practice opportunities in-person and live online every day from now until the election to help invite a little respite and stress relief, even if it's for a moment or two.
I'm also offering $25 off any 1:1 sessions or small groups for Reiki & Sound Healing on Sunday, 11/3.
Along with yoga and Reiki offerings, I'll be offering 3 free online community chanting practices and 2 free online community meditations.
Using your voice helps move energy out of your system. Chanting can alleviate pent up tension and stress and transmute it into a positive force that you can often feel in your body and mind. These will all be very simple japa (repetition) practices, accessible to all levels. Even if you don't want to chant, listening can also have a profound effect on the nervous system, inviting it to come into the parasympathetic state.

In the Vedic tradition, this year it's also, Diwali, the Festival of Light, celebrating the victory of light over darkness. Join me to chant Gayatri Mantra as we hold intention to allow our minds to rest in the peace and clarity of our own light.
